This article explains the process of upgrading the AVANT AD program from CD to DVD
format.
In the steps which follow, you will be:
1. Backing up your AVANT work files
2. Completely uninstalling the AVANT program
3. Installing the DVD version of the software
4. Restoring your AVANT work files
Let’s begin:
Backing up your AVANT work files
1. Using File Explorer, navigate to the location where your Avantext program is
installed (typically C:\Avantext).
2. Within the Avantext folder, copy the following folders to another location:
a. Forms
b. Reports
3. Note where you backed up the folders since you will be restoring them in a later
section.
Completely uninstalling the AVANT program
1. Open Settings (or Control Panel)
2. Select Apps & Features (or Add/Remove Programs)
3. Click on AVANT Airworthiness Directives in the list of installed programs
4. Click on Uninstall (or Change/Remove)
5. When the remove process starts, be sure to select Custom on the window which
is displayed (it’s not selected by default) and then click Next
6. Click Select All on the following screen and then click Next. Continue the
process until you get to the last screen in the process and then click Finish
Installing the DVD version of the software
1. Insert DVD 1 into the DVD drive
2. Click the Run DVD button when it appears. (or navigate to the DVD drive where
you inserted DVD 1 and click on Install)
3. Follow the prompts to install the AD Library on DVD
Restoring your AVANT work files
1. Navigate to the location where the Forms and Reports folders were backed up
in the first step
2. Copy the two folders (Forms, Reports) into the AVANT program folder on the
drive where the AD program is installed. (Example: C:\Avantext)
3. You will be alerted that the folders already exist, asking if you want to overwrite
them. Click the Yes button for each.
